Palace exec: Let's wait for PNoy announcement on new Ombudsman

MalacaƱang kept mum Monday on reports that President Benigno Aquino III has chosen retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales as the next Ombudsman.
In a radio interview, Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office Secretary Ramon Carandang asked the public instead to wait for Aquino to make his formal announcement.
"Tingnan na rin natin. Sabi nga ni Pangulong Aquino sa media noong nakaraang linggo [na] malapit nang ianunsyo ang bagong Ombudsman. I'm sure in the next few days, meron din tayong marinig tungkol diyan," Carandang said in an interview on dzXL radio.

In a separate report on dwIZ radio, he maintained that Aquino already said he will name the next Ombudsman in the next few days.
"Ang alam ko last week sinabi ni Pangulong Aquino na itatalaga niya ang bagong Ombudsman o at least sasabihin sino yan. Kung hindi ngayon, sa susunod na araw siguro maari natin malaman (Last week, Aquino said he will announce his choice; if not today perhaps in the next few days)," he said.
On Monday, the Manila Times reported that Aquino approved the appointment of Carpio-Morales as the new Ombudsman.
The Times report said Aquino was to make the announcement in his State of the Nation Address.
It also said Appellate Court Associate Justice Agnes Reyes-Carpio, Morales' sister-in-law, "confirmed" that the appointment papers were signed last Thursday — RSJ, GMA News
